After Thea is arrested for possession of a new street drug called Vertigo, Oliver discovers someone calling themselves “The Count” who has been making and supplying this new drug. Then on the island, Oliver gets captured again!
This episode starts off really strong, but the plot gets derailed for a good chunk in the middle when Oliver decides to tell Thea about their father’s shrouded history. It gets back on track by the end but this could have just been one scene and we’d get the same amount of information out of it. I guess at least this episode didn’t focus too long on Tommy, at least.
Outside of that, the Count feels like a pretty lame villain, especially compared to the Hood. But as a one-shot episode not really related to the overall plot of this season, it’s fine using Thea’s problems as a basis for Arrow to do something good that isn’t related to getting revenge on the people who did his father wrong.
SCORING:
+8: Decent one-shot
-1: derailed plot, but only for a bit
