Sara Lance is back from the dead, officially, but is being hunted by the League of Assassins. Meanwhile, Moira Queen is facing the death penalty but DA Laurel is trying to give her a plea agreement of life in prison. In the past, it shows how Sara survived the sinking of the Queen’s Gambit and was picked up by the same barge full of pirates that Oliver is later captured.
Pretty good episode all around. The action is solid, as is the storyline involving the League of Assassins as they hunt Sara and her family. Canary and Arrow have to do everything they can in order to keep everyone safe, including themselves.
The part I didn’t especially like was the melodrama in the Lance family. Do the writers think that this show needs melodrama for some reason? Without Tommy someone somewhere is missing this aspect of the show? I don’t know, but let’s consider these parts between Sara, Laurel, and Quentin and compare them, in this very episode, to the parts between Thea, Moira, and Oliver. This shows the difference between real drama and melodrama. One has real stakes and people acting like real people, and the other has contrived stakes and realism basically goes out the window.
SCORING:
+10: Great episode
-1: a tad too much melodrama
