Oliver is being forced to marry Nyssa as, in the League of Assassins, Ra’s al Ghul’s word is law. Meanwhile, Malcolm Merlyn shows up to help Oliver before Ra’s forces him to destroy Star City.
It’s always weird to me when the plot more or less comes to a crawl one episode before the finale. I mean, we all know things are gearing up to getting exciting but we want to become excited in natural ways as the plot amps up, not just feel like we’re only waiting through an episode for things to get exciting. Instead we’re playing “who’s on who’s side” as lines are drawn in sand for a full episode. I guess this is good to know, but didn’t have to spend a whole episode on this.
The Oliver’s past stuff was more exciting and interesting in this one as Maseo’s story comes to a head. Also there’s a good fight about halfway through which ties in well with Maseo’s storyline.
I am excited for the next episode as well, but I’m not sure if this episode is really the reason for that.
SCORING:
+5: Just too much filler
+1: Some interesting stuff in the past
+1: Good fight scene about halfway in
