Bombshell is the not quite true to life story of three women who were sexually harassed by the same boss while working at Fox News during the 2016 Republican candidacy run. This film shows how power can corrupt a person, and just what needs to be done in order to take down such a person.
The acting in this one is quite great and worth watching just to see the people in it playing their parts. John Lithgow deserves praise as the villain, and Margot Robbie, Charlize Theron, and Nicole Kidman are all great as the women who had to come forward in order to show just how corrupt and perverted Roger Ailes had become.
Though the acting is pretty top notch, I feel the story itself is lacking. It starts strong following each character and showing the sacrifices that must be made in order for a woman to work in Fox News and how opinions might differ between the newscasters and Trump during the beginning for his run for the Republican Candidacy, but once it fully makes the switch to the story being solely about the sexual harassment stuff, it’s initial strong storytelling force suddenly falls away and it becomes a somewhat preachy tale of woe from all sides. First half of the film is great, but the second half is just full of unnecessary and repetitive scenes and stretches out what could have been a tight and unique story.
+6: Good movie though it kind of loses me in the second half and then I’m just waiting for it to be over
+1: Great acting from the entire cast
