The Legends trace Vandal Savage to the 1980s in Russia at the height of the Cold War and find him to be making another Firestorm. Also, Kendra is having a hard time keeping control of her new powers so Sara tries to help with a little hands on training.
First off, this show missed a really good opportunity to show an out of control Hawkgirl fight a bloodlust-driven White Canary. Missed their chance…
I think one of the issues this show has in this initial phase is that the writers don’t quite know what kind of show it should be. All they have to go off of is what’s come before with the other shows in the Arrowverse. Those are all Action-dramas with a bit of comedy sprinkled out, but not enough anyone would really call them comedies, but this story of superheroes traveling through time is so ridiculous it basically screams comedy (or action-comedy as the case might be) but with the success of everything else so far, and none of the shows really straying from the “path” too much, I can see why it took them a bit to figure that out. I mean, it’s not that the drama is terrible or anything, in fact most of it is quite good. it’s just not quite the right tone this show needs to stand out among the rest.
Also, being that the last episode of the Flash I watched was filled with Jaws references because they were fighting King Shark, this one not making even a single spy movie reference is a little disappointing.
It’s a decent episode, despite my complaining. It’s a spy-thriller themed episode with very intense moments and decent action. Actually, some of the best action I’ve seen in any series in Arrowverse has been in this show, and there’s only been 4 episodes so far.
+7: Decent thriller and action made for a very entertaining episode
-1: Feels like this show has yet to find it’s form
