On their second adventure, the Guardians go to save the galaxy once again! And this time, we’re doing an origin story as Quinn finds his father, a Living-Planet named Ego.
I know I’m probably in the minority, but I actually like this film even more than the first one. Don’t get me wrong, the first one was great, but what they did there to set up all these characters really pays off here as they all are able to play off each other and create real emotional, and also comedic, moements. I love seeing how everyone has grown since the first one. Rocket seems more concerned with having friends among the group and maybe a little too worried about making social feux pax to hilarious consequence. Same with Drax who seems to have severely calmed down since getting his revenge and now can find the more humorous side of life in the most literal ways.
The humor is spot on and twice as hilarious, but what really surprised me was how many truly human moments were thrown in there. And they did exactly what I keep saying they should do for the MCU and humanized everybody! Even the laughable side-villain Tazer-Face we all feel his pain of having a very stupid name, and then laughing at him for it. Okay, that might seem like a bad example, but this is still something that makes him more memorable and interesting then another phoned-in, I’m-evil-just-for-the-sake-of-it dude like it seems it has been in most of phase 1 and 2 of the MCU.
+10: This movie is just great from start to finish and captures the essence of the Marvel comic books better than any other movie since the first Avengers
