The Chameleon, a master of disguise, escapes from prison in order to trick Aunt May into capturing Spider-Man.
Though they do use a villain from the comics, the Chameleon was actually Spider-Man’s very first villain, most of this episode’s plot just feels silly. For one thing, why does Aunt May hate Spider-Man so much? They never discuss this but it feels like this is where it should be revealed. But instead they just go through Spider-Man’s backstory in the broadest strokes possible and then Uncle Ben’s “ghost” telling Aunt May to kill Spider-Man. I mean it’s Aunt May, and now they’re practically trying to turn her into a super villain. It’s just weird right?
Anyway, this feels like an episode that was handed off to some new writer who did no research at all outside of what was already in the show. It’s not well-written and doesn’t make sense, is what I’m trying to say.
