(ABC/Kelsey McNeal) HAYLEY ATWELL, REED DIAMOND

Air Date: November 18, 2014

Rating: 10/10

The past and present clash as we learn more about the history of Hydra, Ward confronts his brother on what they did when they were kids, and Coulson and his team go deep into a Hydra facility in a desperate attempt to gain the upper hand.

This episode was very intense in multiple ways. For one, the scenes with Ward and his brother were probably the best I’ve seen in this show so far, at least scenes involving Ward anyway. I think that they really up the ante with how this show can be presented. The editing throughout is pretty top notch, and Ward’s scenes especially are set-up in such a way that really drives how his relationship with his brother has been in the past and how it might be as things progress.

For another, the intensity increases as every part of this multi-layered story comes together at the end. This was really an episode that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through.
