Rating: 9/10

In an action-packed episode, Shield has been split into two factions. One claiming to be the real Shield and trying to take down Coulson’s team one way or the other. Also, Skye learns there’s others with abilities and she has to make a choice to stay with the team or go with this new group.

After the lackluster previous episode, this was a very good and intense show that definitely upped the ante of the whole series. I mentioned before that it was becoming less and less clear who was trustworthy on Coulson’s team and this clinches it. It’s great that we’re not sure who are the good guys anymore. I’m being completely serious too as I like this type of dynamic. It makes it a lot more Noire, for one thing.

I still think we’re rooting for the OG Shield, but with so many secrets between them I really wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out Coulson had gone rogue and has been keeping it a mystery even from his own team. I’m very excited about what comes next, though if the pattern holds up the next episode will be another stinker. I’m not getting my hopes up anyway…

I only have one complaint. There’s an extensive expositional scene towards the end that just goes on and on and I just don’t care. Gonzales seems like an interesting character but I don’t need to know his full backstory. Mostly, if it becomes important later, we’ll flashback to whatever we need to and learn it then. I’ve seen enough TV to know this is how it works. Meaning all exposition is kind of pointless. There. I’ve said it.

+10: Action-packed and I don’t know what’s going on anymore…in a good way

-1: Expositional scenes are just there to eat up time
